The Center for Hellenic Studies was founded in 2021 as a sub-organizational unit of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka.
The idea to establish the Center came from the need to study Hellenic culture from antiquity to the present day, which certainly illuminates and promotes historical and cultural ties between Serbs and Greeks.
The center is of great importance for the improvement of Serbian-Greek relations in the field of science, culture, and education, and its work enables the introduction and study of the Hellenic world, its civilization, and tradition, which made a great contribution to the development of the modern world.
The main purpose of the Center for Hellenic Research is to acquire new knowledge from different areas and aspects of Hellenic civilization - from ancient Greece, through Byzantium, to modern, contemporary times. The concept of the Center is based on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, all for the purpose of studying Hellenic heritage from antiquity to the present day.
The scientific research work of the Center includes scientific fields such as philology, philosophy, literature, art, history, archeology, theology, law, economics, tourism, and various other fields related to Hellenism. Significant activities of the Center are organizing the celebration of the International Day of the Greek Language, the Day of Greek Independence, and the School of Ancient Languages and Culture.
The main mission of the Center is to direct students and all interested researchers to the study of Hellenism and its historical role in the creation of European identity and to promote the Greek language and culture.
