Free courses
Every academic year during summer semester Faculty of Philology organizes free courses of English, German, Italian, French and Russian language, as well as a course of Serbian language as a foreign language. The classes are organized twice a week for three months, since beginning of March until the end of May.
Classes are held by the students of senior years of the study programs at Faculty of Philology in Banja Luka. This project is held within the program of the students’ practice. Conducting the classes on the courses, students at the same time are performing practice in teaching methodology and acquire necessary experience for their future teaching profession. In preparation and conducting the classes students are monitored by professors and assistants of the faculty that are responsible for this type of teaching.
Application for courses is open every year in January. During February, testing of participants is performed and preparations for classes. Based on testing results and prior knowledge of students, they are classified in groups of different language knowledge level, according to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. There are maximum 10 to 15 students, and on the classis modern teaching methods are used.
Testing of the students is done at the end of the course. After the testing, the faculty provides Certificates on attendance of the course and successfully completed the course. The courses are intended for students and employees of the University of Banja Luka.
Commercial courses
During winter semester every academic year, Faculty of Philology organizes commercial courses of English, German, Italian, French and Russian language. Classes take place for four months, since mid-October until mid-February twice a week for 90 minutes.
Classes are conducted by graduate students that proved themselves in their work and commitment on free courses organized by the Faculty of Philology.
Registrations for the courses are submitted in September each year. In the first half of October, students are tested and prepared for teaching. Based on the results of testing and pre-knowledge, participants are classified into groups and into different levels of language proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 to 10 participants and modern teaching methods are used. At the end of the course, the candidate is tested, after which the faculty provides certificates of attendance and successful completion of the exam. The courses are intended for students, employees and friends of the University of Banja Luka. The monthly price of the course is 30 KM.
