The Center for Russian Studies was founded in 2021 as a sub-organizational unit of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka.
The main goal and task of the Center is the systematic study of Russia, Russian language, literature, history, culture, Russian society and contemporary Russian politics. Creation of a scientific and academic base for introducing students and the public to contemporary Russia, the rationalization of knowledge and interest in the Russian language, literature, culture, history and contemporary Russia in the wider social community of the Republika Srpska, dealing with the issue of the status of the Russian language in primary and secondary schools in the Republika Srpska, improving international cooperation with universities and other scientific and cultural institutions in Russia.
The scientific work of the Center includes permanent research work, participation in domestic and international scientific research projects, scientific conferences and other programs of scientific cooperation, encouragement and support for young researchers and students of Russian studies (but also students of other study programs and faculties within the University of Banja Luka) in first research ventures, and informing about the possibilities of participation in various student projects in Russia and the world.
The teaching work of the Center includes the organization of various teaching activities, such as: cycles of lectures in the fields of Russian history, culture, philosophy, etc., professional lectures and workshops for teachers and professors of the Russian language, translation workshops for students of Russian studies, a conversation club of the Russian language for all interested students and employees of the University, organizing online courses, lectures and seminars.
